The Goochland Elementary School PTA hosts an annual Trunk or Treat event where children from all of Goochland can come
together and enjoy the spirit of the Halloween holiday in a safe family
friendly environment.
In
traditional Trick or Treating, children go door to door and solicit candy on
Halloween. With traditional Trunk or Treating, cars are organized tail end in,
with the truck or car tailgate open, and children solicit candy from the open
truck or car tailgate.
Our
Trunk or Treat tradition has grown and morphed over the years since its
inception in 2004. The event is currently held at Goochland Elementary School
on the track. Cars/trucks enter the track from the Route 6 (River Road West)
entrance onto the field, slightly west and to the left of the physical entrance
to the school. Cars/trucks are charged by the carload/truckload and tickets can
be purchased in advance through the GES PTA. Walk-ins, also known as non-car
Trunk or Treaters, are welcome at the event to attend by purchasing entrance
tickets, by the person at the walk-in entrance which is most easily accessed
from Route 522 (Sandy Hook Road) where the tennis courts can be seen. The
actual entry point is at the end of the track closest to the tennis courts.
No
Trunk or Treat is really complete without food and entertainment! Of
course, our Trunk or Treaters do expect to receive candy and treats from our
cars/trucks. But there’s so much more family fun to have! There will be costume contest for all the
children and all the teachers and a trunk-decorating contest. Along with the contests,
there will be a DJ, hayrides, balloon artist, and a jump house for the kids to
enjoy. Warm, reasonably priced food and drinks will be available
onsite for purchase from White Hawk Music Café.
With
each successive year, the GES PTA strives to present Trunk or Treat as a
top-notch event that all families will enjoy. We hope this provides you with
